I have known Ashok now for more than five years.
An objective yet sensitive person with a zeal for the contemporary plastic expression.
Not very loud nonetheless, almost subtle. We can feel his
individuality in one of his poems written five years ago.

“Everyone….
…even the butterfly fluttered
to vanish and to flyback.
no one around,
Sky in the pond
A flowerbed
Deep-rooted trees
Birds perching on the treetop
Chirping in the open sky
Freedom on the wings
A sea of azure
Mild breeze, fragrant jasmine
…There, perhaps, is
a chance for peace .”

He now does fishes in the sea. Aquatic light making mysterious games of kinetics and
balance in the space-time water mass of the sea.
We can witness one-touch-caressing strokes repeated infinitely in the movement of
a shoal of fish bound eastward or westward……
Hear silent music of watermass rippled within by the orderly civilized fish.
If you want to, it is there as if wishing the music to survive and bring stars for you.

The art of Ashok Gulati demands and rightfully deserves a serious observation.
For a casual eyemight miss the potentialities standing next door to unfold.
In the last couple  of years, he has possed himself with challanges of colour and composition.

His responses to these challanges are quite avedent.
The colour energies are rhythmic in the field of expanding or contracting space.
The repition of strokes is reassurece of the inherit promise.

Confronting an empty canvas Ashok Gulati handles the proposition
with a mind purged off all the thoughts and concepts,
but only keeping the promise towards colour energies in an endless space.
